Twomixdiver:
Thank you to Cristina G. De Leon, diver, and owner of Theraphy Works, for donating almost Php 20k in canned goods.

Does anybody have direct access to any of the local airlines? I need a sponsor to send it over to Tacloban. A local archdiocese will take it from there to the St. Bernard Parish. It's either that or I send it by ferry.

thought you are sending them via PAF flights?

I was, until somebody expressed concern that it might go thru some local politician first. Once I send it thru the PAF, I'm not assured of where it might end up.

I'm trying to sent the stuff first thru the Tacloban archdiocese; hence the need to look for an airline sponsor.

Red Cross appeals for help in Leyte landslide

ABOUT 200 people were believed killed and 1,500 others were missing when a landslide buried an entire village in Southern Leyte.
The farming village of Guinsaugon on Leyte island, 670 kilometers (420 miles) southeast of Manila, was virtually wiped out, with only a few jumbles of corrugated steel sheeting left to show that the community of some 2,500
people ever existed.

As of this posting, 33 bodies were recovered and 53 people were rescued from the rubble of a landslide. But officials said rescue operations were called off at nightfall for fear of another landslide.

The Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) is appealing for help.

PNRC fund raising director Gwen Pang said the Red Cross is now accepting donations in cash, medicines, clothes, and blankets.

“We prefer cash to canned goods,” she said.

”The medicines we need now are those for fever, flu, coughs, and colds, although later we might need medicines for skin diseases,” Pang said.

Those who wish to send donations may contact the following Red Cross hotlines:

+63 920 9527268

+63 917 8068513

+63 2 5270864 (telephone and fax)

i just remembered...the Rizal chapter of the PNRC is just a few minutes drive from my office...i'll send probably through them instead

That sounds like a good idea. As long as we all do our part. As long as we get the victims the help they need.
