I'm working on a trip report but basically my decision of where to spend my holiday this winter was whether to duck Coz and go someplace that hadn't been hit by the hurricane. I decided to dive in Coz BECAUSE it had been hit by the hurricane. Then I decided to do my diving with small, locally owned ops and to stay and eat at Mom and Pop places. And to tip well. I don't think I can even BEGIN to describe the extent of the effect of the hurricane on the wonderful people of Cozumel that I have come to love.

Y'all might consider diving with the operators who have a family; the operators that did not lay off their staff after the storm in October. The others, the ones who laid off their staff to drift on their own while the going was rough, as we say in Mexico;
the ones that don't have a mother, in my opinion should not be patronized.
