I know they may not be for everyone, but there is something to be said about a rugged metal canisters :)

Thanks for the shout-out @Scuba_Jenny and @Joneill and @-JD-. We're proud of them and happy to have them available at Divers Direct (and Force-e too now).

Nothing wrong with the other brands, and don't want to bash any of the other options .. Ultimately I think this thread is more about getting a PLB and finding any good way to bring it along to keep you safe.

I wonder what it means by Height: 5051 inches (140mm)?
Hey @DandyDon yes, the inside cavity size is 4.8" where as the outside (including the cap and bottom lip) make it 5.51". There is a round lip that adds some strength, and also has the punch-out holes for attachment.

I know it seems that this thread is now focusing on containment for PLBs, but have any of you had experience with the PLB3 from OceanSignal? (Maybe this has been covered before. I read through the first 63 pages of this thread, but haven't been through the additional 65 pages.) I'm just curious about whether this helps with the debate over whether to carry both a PLB and a PAB since it seems to do both.

"Ocean Signal operates within the ACR group. "

Just get an ACR.. It's the best out there.

Sure looks like this is just a re/co-branded ACR ResQLink AIS PLB-450 (ResQLink AIS Personal Locator Beacon - ACR ARTEX) which we started discussing back in post 1221 of this thread on Feb. 17, 2023 here: PLBs Can Save Your Life

Total, but not unreasonable, speculation that they are probably the same guts in different colored case.

I don't recall anybody saying they've bought one yet.
2 notes:
  1. It "needs" a flotation pouch (IMO and supposedly ACR is/will be selling one - see above discussion)
  2. I believe there is no off-the-shelf pressure canister available for it yet. (Although DRYFOB @Jaan is probably watching the introduction for evidence of demand - maybe a chicken & egg situation)

ETA: @Ryan Neely Beat me to it ...

Indeed. We are experimenting with some protos and trying to price it out…. but it’s a beast of a canister

This seems to be the same dimensions as the ACR and I concur it is likely the same animal.

I’ve heard mixed reactions. Some like the two in one, others like two units for redundancy. We’re actually contemplating these ourselves for worldly coverage.

Funny. I just ordered a canister from DryFob last night under the assumption I'd be buying one of the other ACR PLBs. Then I saw this thing. I didn't realize the device was so large.
