Also, putting the PLB in a ziplock bag or two before putting it inside the canister will help to protect it against any leaks.

Obviously that doesn’t work for a camera.

Why? PLBs are not harmed by minor leaks.

This may be a case of Apples and Oranges 😂, but in theory so was my last iPhone. But apparently it suffered “water damage” which voided the warranty and I didn’t know why, when or how that happened. 🤷🏽‍♂️

My questions are: does it hurt ? Is it really inconvenient ? Is it expensive ? Will it add an extra layer of protection at minimal cost ?

Even if you can’t imagine a scenario where it will help, that doesn’t make taking an extra level of precaution invalid. By carrying a PLB, you are already thinking of protecting yourself from a “sh*t hits the fan” scenario …

My dive canister leaked once, but the PLB was unharmed. I'm not going to bother with a ziplock, but it's fine if you do.

PLB1 is waterproof up to 25’ depth. As long as water leak is not completely displaced the air inside the case, the air inside the case is compressible. So the pressure inside the case would be < 25’ of water (4 psig).
