Putting the PLB in a double zip lock bag before you put it in the underwater case will protect it from getting wet, although it will not help against pressure.

This is what happened to @Luxe mile diver. So definitely no soft case for my PLB1.

In US water, if you turn on a PLB for a non emergency situation, you may be fined to as much as $2000.

To insure that I won’t fumble it into the abyss when I open the case and pull the PLB1 out of the case, I tether the PLB1 to the case’s lid’s inside surface.

And tether both the NexGen Nautilus PAB & PLB1 case to the BCD pocket D-ring.

What is it made from (if DIY) ?
Or which brand ?

How will you attach it to your BC or stow it whilst diving ?

I sketched it & had it made by plastic machine shop. It’s made out of Acrylic with polyethylene lid to avoid galling (locking up) the threads. Its see through case makes it easy to check for leaks without opening the lid.

They fit nicely in my BCD left pocket, below the integrated weight pouch. The free end of the leash is clipped on the waist D ring (see the picture, below for detail).

To get it out of the BCD pocket, I just unzip the pocket and fish out the devices by pulling the leash out of the pocket.

Very nice custom case !

Was expensive to have made ?

Also, have you had it pressure pot tested ?

Thanks!

It costed $25 for materials & $100 labor.

I have pressure tested the old longer body case to 140’ (43m) depth without any leak. I’ll test the shorter version next month in Alor & Komodo.

The PLB1 in its waterproof case is barely float. So I won’t need much additional dive weight to compensate it to get neutrally buoyant while diving.

Alot of photog friends clip/ziptie a weight to their "empty" camera housing and attach it to their dive reel. It gets dropped over the side of the LOB/boat to depth for a quick 2 mins and then reeled back up to check for droplettes. Load the camera/PLB, clean Orings and its all set. Last year on Goliath trip the vacationer's dropped together 2 full size housings and 4 GoPro housings all empty. 1 GoPro leaked and they fixed it for the actual dive.
