Photos of the 3 fins side by side if anybody needs to compare visually.
Apeks RK3 Medium
Deep6 Eddy Large
Scubapro Gosport Gorilla Medium
I wear a size US 8.5 - 9 Nike Airmax sneakers.
For the Deep6 I am wearing size 9, 5mm Aropec booties with the felt sole. Fits perfectly, comfortable. This fins are the stiffest. Dry weight is about the same as the RK3 medium. It doesn’t have grooves in the foot pocket or at the bottom on the fins. Not sure if I’d need them. The spring strap has a loop making it easy to don/doff. I am not going into a cave or any overhead environment so I am not that concerned about it catching on things. They’re significantly longer than the RK3 medium but weigh about the same. Adjustable to 3 spring strap positions by hooking the springs to the other screws. The annoying thing is that it was difficult to find it in Singapore, then when one shop finally brought it in, the price they set made it hard to justify buying. I bought it abroad at a reasonable price.
The RK3 is the softest of the three but also very comfortable flappy material. Doesn’t hurt the top of my feet when wearing pure neoprene booties with no rubber toe caps. I love it when photographing in weak
/no current dives.
Gosport Gorilla is the lightest. Almost as stiff as the deep6. I bought this because it’s light and stiff but I didn’t realise the this foot pocket cuts into the top of my feet making it very uncomfortable. The scubapro delta 3mm booties and this fins combo sucks. Friends using the scubapro delta 5mm love it. I should have tried a large size with thicker booties with the rubberised toe cap. Anyway these are very positively buoyant, little too much sometimes when taking photos.
Haven’t dived with the deep6 yet so I will review when I have. Hope the photos can help somebody.
