Those fees are built into your plane ticket price usually - already paid. Leave unwanted pesos in the Red Cross box.How about the departure fees at the airport? Will they take dollars?
Since most allow 10:1 but the official rate today is 13.58:1 - I bet they get at least 12:1, and enjoy the 20% bonus. It's not like they work hard enough for the measely pitance most leave as tips for the serving crowd, might as well make them go to their cambios and do their own exchange. Of course most take dollars, but dont get upset if some dont, that's all.
Yep. Some properties quote deals with "taxes & tips included" but tipping is the norm still. How much is a personal choice, but $5/tank for DMs is a minimum I think, $1-2/day for a room maid altho you may need to include a note saying "maid" otherwise they may leave it - more for a couple maybe, etc.Since tips were brought up....what do you guys usually tip your DMs, hotel staff, etc... Or do you?
We are going to Cozumel in January and was wondering if the cab drivers still took dollars or you had to have pesos. What I had noticed on our last two trips for taxi fares was when I asked for what the fare would be to a destination, they would often quote in peso's, say 60 pesos, then I would ask how much in dollars and they would say $5, so it was usually a 12:1 rate. I would just pay in dollars.
