Why do you say that for the hogfish? I have my "spots".
Hogfish season is closed on the Atlantic side (Palm Bch thread & Boca Raton) from Nov 1st until May 1st.

FWC site = Hogfish

Watch out for the grouper rules too. They are species dependent. Gags are closed.

Gonna be a 6 month long wait for that hogfish,,,but next week the weather looks better & sooner.
If course it does.. I have commitments and won't be able to get out to dive.

Please learn the regulations. Florida fishing regulations are clear & very easy to find.

I previously went to the FWC site and studied the regulations to be totally up to date since the regulations have changed quite a bit since I last dove. In fact, I had printed the "Quick Chart" (https://myfwc.com/media/20441/quickchart.pdf) and a copy is in my dive bag!

I simply missed about hogfish having a season.

During the 2024 lobster 'Bonus Day" in July, the regulations were flip-flopping week by week from both the state and federal regulators. It was crazy nuts and even the law enforcement officers threw up their hands and said they had difficulty and couldn't do anything. Paper print outs were stale and out-dated that were just printed a week earlier.

But there is a great, always up to date FREE phone app approved by the FWC so you can be legal up to the minute. It even can use your phone's location data so you can be anywhere and it will tell you the exact seasons, lengths, rules, & dates to see if the species is legal immediately when & where you are located. It's called FISH RULES app and it's FREE for IOS, Android, & internet. Your data is encrypted and you can delete your 'secret spot' at any time. No hassle, no stale paper, & keeps you instantly up to the minute legal info.

Here is the FREE android version:

This is awesome!!!! It is already installed on my phone and running.
Thanks so much.

Same today still very low current. Bumpier I think. (I forgot to press post earlier today, I guess).

Also for the last two days, I think that I saw two lion's mane jellyfish. Are they known to come this far south? Perhaps there is something similar? I was afraid to get too close the tentacles stretched out a long way, particularly on the one I saw yesterday.
