The running theme in other threads regarding this topic was the Foley Cathiter (please excuse my spelling). From what I understand, it isn't difficult to insert, but tends to lean a little towards discomfort (according to those that tried it - I'm male, not an issue for me).

If I were a woman, I think that would be the avenue I would explore first. The other options don't seem viable.

I'll slink back into my hole now....

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I've finally decided to stop diving dehydrated and will finally consider using diapers.

I need advice on which type or brand of diapers, are there specific techniques on relieving yourself that I should be aware of?

Generally, any tips and advice on diving with diapers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!! :)

I attended a DUI demo about a month ago and they were discussing the pee valve for women and basically it sounds that if you aren't completely clean shaven each time you use it, the tape won't stick. I also can't imagine the process of removing the tape. Who would have thought that Depends would sound like a good idea!

I'm not sure an in-water p-valve for women is a very workable idea. Most of the guys I've been diving with that had the male p-valve had issues, they were not THAT thrilled with the valve. The guys that had the relief zippers were quite happy. My husband has the relief zipper and he LOVES it. Now we don't have to undo his back zip drysuit, the neck and wrist seals, with hairy arms, blah, blah, etc.

I think the "Lady J" and a "male style" relief zipper would be an option for women; easy relief on the boat/small head/remote beach dive site with no ladies room. Heck, a nice private bush is a better option some times than some nasty unkept public restroom at the beach! Of course, then you're a chick with a relief zipper.... I'm sure THAT would look a bit odd... but if comfort is your goal ... (Oh hey, then we can take this thread to "Stupid Questions you get from non-divers!! Yeah!!)

I've dove with the depends but I didn't use it. A girlfriend of mine said underwater you still get soaked - weezles wick it away.. I've been thinking about trying a peevalve. If you use mineral oil on the sticky part, it might come off easier after the dive. I still have to try it though.

A friend recently experienced this problem. Of course I don't dive dry (at least not until Antarctica, although one of mentors dove there wet decades ago, in the 50's or early 60's).

What a problem... I can feel your pain. And I'm serious about that. If I had to hold it through a dive, I might never have gotten started.

Missy, my dear... it is summer. You can dive wet although I know you are enjoying your dry suit as well.

I was there on sunday at casino point after 2 30 minute dives I significantly hypothermic. granted I normally dive dry but still only 2 dives!! I saw your wetsuit and it looks like the poolsuit I just retired. I envy the heartier of you. I just am not. and yet I have never needed the diapers I wear in the old dry suit for my tech 1 dives. I emphasize dry suit. but I recognize as I extend my BT past 2 1/2-3 hrs I will eventually need an answer. I am not insensate enough for a foley but I know no other dry answer. a friend sent a site for the female hollister but I remain unconvinced!
