Hi all,

I’m working on relocating or upgrading the exhaust valve on my drysuit (Waterproof D7X), and I’m planning to install a new valve port myself.

One thing I’d like to know is:

What materials are actually used by manufacturers and experienced repair shops for the internal reinforcement pad under the exhaust valve?

I’ve seen various ideas (Cordura, PVC tarp, PU-coated fabrics, neoprene), but no definitive answer.

It seems many suits (like SANTI or Waterproof) have a circular or hexagonal reinforcement patch inside, but I couldn’t identify the actual material.

So, if anyone has:

• Experience in drysuit manufacturing or repair

• Knowledge of what materials are actually used

• Tested combinations with SC4000 (or similar adhesives)

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks in advance,

Whatever sticks to your suit without blocking the valve too much

How about you invent a nut cap from cordura and milk bottle plastic make it twice as big in diameter
that actually screws between the nut and the valve, that seals of course, and you could then sell them

Thank you for the suggestion, but I won’t be adopting this idea. I appreciate your advice!
