Hey, Kirk, you can get a spare air or just buy a pony tank and regulator off EBay. If you need to inspect a boat bottom or prop, about 15 cubic feet of compressed AIR is needed. Oxygen is OK for shallows and it can be used for emergency treatment for a number of things. However, getting a SCUBA bottle charged with O2 can be a hassle; for one thing, the cylinder, regulator and valve need to be specially cleaned. Also, to get the bottle filled with air the shop may hassle you for a "card". Whatever you do, when ascending, do not hold your breath. The SCUBA supplies air at surrounding water pressure. Your lungs will expand just as the water pressure decreases and that ain't good. If you are already a swimmer and diver, no special training is required for SCUBA except the ascent rule. However, if you are a kind of dufus or a nervous type, cannot free dive to 20 feet, or plan on using more complicated equipment than mask fins and small tank, then a training course should be the first stop.

See! (and you said there was no application for a product like this...)
