Easy guys :) I am a she by the way. Thanks for the information from all of you. I did have a dive shop nearby replace the battery. I bought the computer last August, but like you said, who knows how long they had it before I got it. I used it in an ocean environment today without any hiccups at all. I will be in some overhead environments tomorrow and will see if it fixed it. I'll bring an SPG as a backup just in case. :)

As for continuing to use the transmitter. I think I will. I don't plan to do very many cavern dives like this. This trip was all about trying new kinds of diving like ocean and caverns. It's ok. I like it, but I don't think I will do a lot of it. I will probably find myself doing more wrecks and taking pictures of fish. :) But I did learn to get a backup just in case something goes wrong with my transmitter again.

I am in central Florida by the way. I believe the divemaster at the first site said it was a lot of limestone. Didn't sound like it would interfere, but I don't know much about the rocks. I'll see tomorrow if the new battery fixes it all. Thanks again for the comments.

Let us know what you find, please? Thank you!

Unfortunately the batter was not the problem. As soon as I went about 10-15 ft into a cavern it lost signal again. I ended up coming up and switching to a computer with a hose. I do like not having that hose there, but..... Now I just need to find out if this is common or something that can be fixed. I don't do a lot of cavern dives, but it would be nice to know I can depend on it if I do.

Y'know, Solitari, that is just crap! You should send that back to ScubaPro Uwatec!

I had two transmitters on my sidemount, and Rob Neto gave me a cavern tour, and mine worked just fine! Do you know anyone with whom you could swap transmitters? That would narrow it down to the transmitter, or the computer.

If you were diving in iron-rich area, I could understand. . . . sort of . . .

Really... Yeah I know a couple people with the same computer. I'll have to ask them if they have the same problem and try their transmitter. Might have to have Scubapro replace mine.

Easy guys :) I am a she by the way.

It's an internet thingie, you know, hard to turn someone over to verify gender.

FWIW, I have used two different AI units while cave diving; a Uemis and Oceanic OC1 with no problem. The Uemis never lost the transmitter signal, while the OC1 occasionally lost the signal for a brief period, but that is normal in open water as well. I keep the transmitters pointed downward so they are less likely to be damaged as I bounce my way through a cave.

The transmitter is pointed down. My BC hose is above it when I am horizontal. And I wear my computer on the same side as the transmitter. So it sounds like I am having a transmitter issue. Only happens in caverns, but still. It comes and goes, but once I get deep enough, like say 50+ feet the signal is gone for good until I come out. I'll talk to my LDS owner and scuba pro and see if I can have the transmitter replaced. Going to try another transmitter to be sure though first. Thanks for all the help, and reassurance it isn't too common.

My uwtec is having issues when I am using my 110 alpha Sea and Sea strobe. I get a loss of pressure signal. What is really weird it that the loss of signal occurrs when I am not shooting but only carrying the camera setup but with the strobe switch in the on position. Anyone have any clues as to what on the strobe would be causing this? I hear the high frequency pitch when first turning on the strobe but that does not seem to cause the dive computer to lose its pressure signal.

The strobe is a big capacitor, it charges up and creates a sort of magnetic feild. This is what disrupts the signal sometimes. When you use the strobe, the feild drops and the signal resumes.
