some of us work..

As for the last few threads I read on here about CPR.. I would say.. as I have stated to others...

If GOD is saying its your time, I dont feel right coming in the way and saying hey! No.. God.. Not this one. .Not now..

Now I do understand when that person has a close tie to me such as my wife or kids I may not want to partake in the above discussion with GOD and may make a move to interfere.

If it were me in the situation, I would rather be dead. Let fate do its thing and move on.

As for the original topic. it was adresssed and we know understand that some people dive with crazy long hoses. Thats just not for us..

The wife was with me while I was posting most of the early posts. She knows exactly how I am and how I feel.. The knife bit is real. Its exactly as how it was described and its not that I was "taught" its more of a belief I agree with.

Hmmm... another thread where a person is critizied for just stating how they do certain things.

I didn't read all 145 posts but I think I agree with psychocabbage for the most part. I wouldn't do the knife thing, because that would mean actual contact with strangers and I'm not fond of that.

No many people is in the water where I dive. I like open water diving. If there are many feet in one area it doesn't feel open to me so I move over or wait until the feet are gone.
besides that I'm tend to be aware of my surroundings. I'm not saying it is impossible but I highly doubt that a stranger can sneak up on my while diving. The instant a diver tries to get close to me I swim away, I don't care if said diver is trying to show me some amazing whatever, I rather miss out on whatever he/she found that have to deal with the social interaction.

For some people the social things is the good part of diving, for me is the exact opposite. Underwater it is just me, the bubbles, and whatever I encounter on my own. Diving with my husband or the few friends I have is a bit different, but they know that I don't care to see everything they see. My husband or one of those friends comes to me underwater and need air, they can take it. They can grab the 2nd stage out of my mouth or the other one hanging from a ring. I'll give them crap for the rest of their natural life for disrupting my dive, but they can take some of MY AIR.

Now when it comes to a stranger, they are not getting MY AIR. Again, I'm not saying it would be impossible for them to accomplish that, just highly unlikely.

There is a lot of talk about a diver getting panic attacks and how they become Hulk like creatures. Yep, some do, they may be able to get someone's 2nd stage if it is with their reach, but I never heard of any of them having what it takes to chase another diver, specially if they have to chase down to the bottom... they tend to go up to the surface. I won't be there for them to bother me.
So, go ahead a line up saying I would never dive with her.... of course you won't.

Kudos..

I agree.. so many people lack SA (Situational Awareness).. If you know where everyone is at every time, then there are no surprises. Watching people daily, you can see how many are just victims waiting to happen.

You won't find many people who were criticizing him for not donating his primary in an OOA situation. What you will find is why people donate their primary and criticizing him for stating that he was taught to defend his primary with a knife and how strongly he felt that that was the correct thing to do. He totally neglects the fact that if somebody goes for your primary that they are in a panic mode and trying to defend your primary with a knife will only worsen that panic and the over all situation, where as giving up your primary, and starting to breath off your secondary will go a long ways towards easing the situation and gaining control.

Kudos..

IMHO, you can't really speak towards situational awareness since you failed to notice that I live in Texas when you started telling me to come to Texas to show me the way things are done in Texas. After all it states that I live in Texas right below my avatar on all my posts. It's pretty hard to miss. I seriously doubt that your situational awareness is that great in the water and I would hate to be around when you're faced with a situation where you are dealing with a panicked diver.

Have you actually had to do this before, have you dealt with a panic diver this bad?

.

My first post in this thread was mostly for fun. This one is a bit more serious.

I don't believe you. Nor do I believe anyone who sits at their computer and tells the world that they would fight off or deny anyone air in an OOA situation. That includes the crazy lettuce and !!Papabear!!

Ya'll talk a great game, but in the end you would indeed help out your fellow human.

At least I really hope you would.

This is a very seriously disturbing thread......

Nawww, it's just you coming to the realization that there are a lot of people in the world that you wouldn't want as a dive buddy.

That's OK. There are a whole lot of others that make great buddies. And it's important to watch out for those that you wouldn't want to share the water with.

At least he is in good shape, which is more than alot of us can say.
