I was recently given a old jetstream set. 2960 first stage and 2nd and octo plus a parkway console. I'm not sure if i should service them or sell. If selling them is the parkway worth anything? The set has been stored in the bag for the last 10-15 years. Ive gotten varied quotes for service but most are in the $300 range. Are they worth keeping or should i sell? I am interested in tech diving. i do most of my diving wreck diving the NJ coast. Thanks for the opinions.

300.00 not bad. Make sure its a certified Poseidon tech with Poseidon parts/hoses. The second stage has some unique parts in there. The Poseidon is a real workhorse and certainly a preferred ice reg. I love my Odins. I think I have three of them. A couple of first stages which I use on a rebreather. As per the Parkway console - nothing special about it.

$300 plus quote from poseiden tech "That is with no out of the norm.metal parts or servo valves." So i feel i could just buy a new reg or is the jetsream worth holding onto??

Hey, its up to you. The Poseidon was the gold standard a while back, and I love them because they work in all conditions. Guys diving the wrecks off NJ used them A LOT . That said - they do require a lot more when it comes to servicing (by a specialist and not some regular repair tech) and if the servo needs replacing - more bucks. They are not some Chinese Hog reg. or other. And I like them better than APEKS, Scubapro regs. I have.

I don't know if you've pressured them - but I might give it a shot. The breathing characteristics on a Poseidon is definitely different than a standard 2nd stage and some folks do not like them. So, that might be a factor for you.

ship em to scubatoys instead imo. 300 is too much for just standard service without replacing anything outside of the service kit.

way too much money. For this set

$75 for 3 stage labor
$75 for parts kits if you're paying retail
$25 for new diaphragms
$40 for new mouthpieces
$40 for valve inserts
$200.

If you were getting new servo valves, then it would be an extra $80, but those don't usually have to be replaced and aren't part of the normal diagnosis. Air Tech Scuba in Raleigh is the place that I would send them to if you're sending them out for service. They actually know what they're doing with these things and a lot of people ship them in from all over the country.

Now, you should probably get the second stage adapters and new hoses, that's another $80 or so, so factor that in, but that's probably a lot more than what that shop is going to do for you.

I was able to pressurize them and take a few breaths. It's definitely different but not bad.

After all the replies I think I'm going to keep them and look around some more before sending them out. Thanks for all replies!!

Our pleasure. And again make sure the service person has factory training on these regs. Years ago I sent them out to someone who said he worked on these things and he ruined them completely. I had to take legal action, and then a long circuitous route to getting them repaired. They are work horses.

One last thing. Can these be made EAN/nitrox compatible? Everything I've read says air only.
