Question: has anyone figured out how to "import" a ".dat" file that is already on a hard drive directly into the program. I am going to have to reconstruct a scrambled database, and no longer own a VTPro on which about 15 or 20 dives were recorded. I have the "dat" file for those dives, but not the computer itself, so I can not just hook up the dive computer directly

hmm ... if I try to change the Beginning LTDN: by deleating the numbers it closes the program after the last number is deleted ... if I highlight the LTDN and insert a number. it locks up by showing a message box "Beginning lifetime dive number has been updated" click "OK" and when you do it keeps poping up over and over and over .. shutting down the program a few times (con/alt/del) has some interesting results on dive numbers in my logged dives ... I have -2698792 dives, although Dive History # is unchanged

I struggled with this too .. too much time trying different #'s etc :shakehead
Eventually, I gave up & just added a new dive which magically made all the dive #'s correct...
You can delete the dive later.
Not exactly how it should work!

Frank: did you add the new dive at the beginning, or at the end?? This LTDN issue is ridiculous!

After I played around with the LTDN and my dives numbers were reaching numbers only Carl Sagan would understand, I just added in a dive at the end. All the dive #'s readjusted to what they should be.
That means that they have a bug in the code that does the LTDN update.
And if you happen to download a newer version of the SW, you NEED to uninstall the previous version first.
In my opinion, the LTDN feature should not be included unless they fix the problem.
Anyone.. Did it work for you?
Is this just a problem for the 2 or 3 of us??

Bill,

Your a bloody genius, After 4 months of waiting on Oceanic, I finally have a Figure in the SAC box, however if I was a mouse it might be correct. A typical dive reads;
Start Pressure-293 Bar, end pressure 135.7 Bar, Cyl size 10 litre, average depth 23.4 Meters, dive time 26.5 Min's = SAC rate 0.084 Litres per min, any ideas ??

Mark

I'm using 2.1.2, but it sounds like this has not changed. Calculation of SAC in metric appears to be completely borked. The "average" value in the box there (which you cannot set yourself) is in feet, not meters, (even in metric mode) but it seems the calculation is using the value as if it is meters or something. I haven't worked out the math and didn't think to try the 1 bar working pressure bit. Instead I calculated the tank volume in liters at 1 bar.

The conventions are different here and the software shoud adjust.

I have to say that while I'm impressed with the customer support level here of taking people's comments, the Oceanlog software is probably the worst piece of software I've come across since I stopped using my Commodore 64 in 1989. I'm sorry to say this, but it's true.

Any idea when printing will be fixed? When trying to print detailed logs (including graph) it spools forever and never prints. This has been tested on both my notebook and desktop (to Adobe PDF, HP Laserjet 4050TN, and Tektronix Phaser 750DP).

It would be more useful to me if I could print my logs :)

I cannot delete a location or dive site.

I select the location in the dropdown list. I then click on the "-" to delete. I get a message box asking if I'm sure I want to delete the location. I click "YES" The location is still in the dropdown list.

Version 2.1.4 on WinXP.

Rockbrother:
Hi,
I am getting the following message when running the program:
"You do not have an appropriate license to use this functionality"

I have Vista home basic and installed the usb drivers for the cable.

regards
Wilhelm

I am having the same issue. I have Office 2007 installed. Perhaps this is the cause?

Doug, any thoughts on this?
