I think I'll just replace the cap with a flat-top version!

If you have a DVT first stage you will want to be sure the new cap doesn't press on the valve.

Oceanic made the cap that way to accomodate both yoke and din regs. Some of their regulators are available both ways.

If you have a first stage with DVT, don't worry about water drops, just blow the big ones out and you're fine.

I'm pretty sure they recommend leaving the cap on whenever the reg is not on a tank.

I am curious about how the Oceanic "thimble" can be used as a din cap. Please enlighten me.

There used to be one shaped like a ball. Seemed ideal. Can I still get one?

My Apex regs had the ball dust cap. Worked really good.

The DIN fitting fits inside the "dust cap"

Just push dust cap over the DIN.

I personally wouldn't trust it to keep water out of the first stage while rinsing when used this way on a DIN reg.

It seems to me that water would just wind its way around the threads until it reaches the din inlet. Also, the threads would chew hell out of the inside of the thimble.

In a true din cap, the din face o-ring bottoms on a flat inside the cap.
