Yooper gave a good answer since you don't scooter....

According to all of the research I've ever heard about, we're all strokes from the time we first develop peachfuzz. Similar to peeing in wetsuits, there are those that admit they do and those that lie about it.

There are some that argue Penthouse -v- Playboy and others that strongly advocate baby oil over KY. As someone with only a recreational interest in the subject, I hope that the "experts" will forgive me if I'm reluctant to shake hands with any of them.

Just sign me:

Master Baiter

p.s. Jim - you didn't really expect a one word response to your question, did you? :mean:

... Why?....well

After reading many (too many??) posts on threads like these,
I arrive at a duality of definition for the word "stroke", and a reaction to same.[IMO]

1.) If "stroke" = "not DIR" in terms of training, philosophy, and equipment configuration, that's one thing. Then the yes/no distinction is easy to make.

2.)But if "stroke" connotes what the "street pejorative" implies, then I have seen evidence in some posts of "strokes" in all categories-regardless of equip./ training philosophies.
(i.e.-with this interpretation-I see evidence of all 4 of the possible pairings of "DIR" and "STROKE".) This makes the yes/no distinction 100% opinion.

Given those distinctions, I guess I'd rather be a type 1"stroke" , than a type 2 "stroke".

Mike

P.S. fwiw, I am a rec. diver, whose knowledge of DIR comes from the folks on this board, but if I went into tech., I'd want to look more deeply at those ideas.

P.S.#2 Pete and UP- am I ni the ballpark re your "bet"?

If you dive with independant, inverted doubles...you are a stroke.

Hmmm, Wasn't that the British Navy (and I think French but not sure) config for a loooong time. Makes it eaxy to reach the valve knobs tho'

Oh, No!! I asked a Stroke-ish question! ;-0

My question is if you dive with DIR philosphy but not a full DIR rig (because of situation and circumstances) , are you a stroke?

now the proud founder of the PIC (Philosophize it correctly) movement and correct speller of "pejorative". Maybe that should stand for “Pug it correctly”, or “Pug Is Cool” or, or… :tease: During our next deco stop, we will be reading passages from Nietzsche, Voltaire, or maybe even on the Zen of SCUBA.

My question is if you dive with DIR philosophy and not a full DIR rig....

Od~
What kind of situation and circumstances do you have to do something half-assed? No offense meant, just asking you a simple question. This is a tried and true system. Seems to work well enough in it's entirety. And yes, they did use that system. Everyone can learn from thier mistakes. You used to go to the bathroom in your owns pant's, but surely not anymore.

In one word NO!

But you kiddies did not actually think, that with all of the debate on this you could actually get a one word answer did you?

You know that We who can truly answer No, like to point out to the ones that if they weren't too busy pointing at someone else and checking sp. errors they might just have to finally fess up and say "Yes I am a stroke! I have always been a stroke and most likely always will be. Because I am too dumb to put the effort out to better myself"

You guy's are right this is all pretty stupid, It is all just name calling like grade school kids. Us saying "you are" and you saying "Am not".
