Why can't we do both? A shore/cleanup dive at Coral Street or ?? on Sat and then go out with Cypress Sea on Sunday. :crafty:

That's an idea. Wouldn't it serve better to cleanup at a place like the wharf or something a little more travelled? I'm up for both.

Can we do the wharf?

We can ask... :) I haven't gotten around to talking to the harbormaster. Guess I just need to schedule in the time. Here is a thought though if that the Wharf doesn't pan out. How often do they do Breakwater or McAbee Beach cleanups? It just seems to me that Coral Street isn't as heavily dived as say Breakwater or McAbee Beach. There's always trash along the wharf though. I've heard the concern at the wharf is because of some Abalone farms or something like that down there. Breakwater might be quite a big undertaking. I always try to pick up trash that I see on the bottom at Breakwater (checking for critters in them of course). I've picked up several soda cans from the bottom of Breakwater. I might be thinking out loud at this point.

Breakwater or McAbee for a cleanup is a much better idea and that's what Sarah's intention was for this post to begin with. Let's plan on doing one or both of those one of the days and then a boat dive on the other.

Anyone else interested in doing any of these that weekend?

I'd be down for the cleanup and boat dive. If the boat dive is a sunday, I'll be able to bring a buddy!

I don't mind if we do a clean-up or not. I just know that it had been previously mentioned on here or in real-life (perhaps at the last clean up on 9/19) that we should do a more "meaningful" clean-up for a site that is actually dirty. :) I know that some diveshops might be a bit nervous about sponsoring a clean-up around the Pier b/c of monofilament entanglement concerns. That being said - i think it is easily remediable (scissors/knife).

I am quite happy doing whatever. I would be happy just diving for fun and trying to organize a clean-up a different month (in the spring perhaps - after the winter weather clears out) and just doing Coral St. I feel like this should be a group decision.

So it seems like the options are ...............

(1) 2 days - Corral Street / Boat dive
(2) 2 days - Clean up (BW/McAbee) / Boat Dive
(3) 1 day - Fun dive from the shore
(4) 1 day - Clean up (BW/McAbee)
(5) 1 day - Boat dive

So while I can't do an official "poll" without starting a new thread - what's everyone up for?

I like option (1), with a backup vote for (5).

Maybe we can get Roy to hook us up with a deal since he seems to be on boats quite often. =c)

Ask Phil (Cypress Sea) to take us to Lobos Rocks and I'm in.

Okay folks. I just got off the phone with Cypress Sea. Captain Phil was not in so I spoke with another gentleman (sorry, didn't get his name). According to him, they are scheduled to go to Carmel that morning (Sunday, November 18th) and it is a 3-tank dive. $100 per spot. We can't assure that the boat will do Lobos Rocks, but we can make a request day off.

So - who's in? :coffee:
