Well, not if you're to trust this article, where...
An Israeli Inventor has developed a breathing apparatus that will allow breathing underwater without the assistance of oxygen tanks. This new invention will use the relatively small amounts of air that already exist in water to supply oxygen to both scuba divers and submarines. The invention has already captured the interest of most major diving manufacturers as well as the Israeli Navy.
Btw, anyone else who thinks Bodner looks like Ron Howard?

It would be quite awhile before something like this could be available to the public, but interesting indeed. It is amazing how science fiction of yesterday, becomes science fact of today.

I already dive without the assistance of "oxygen tanks".

Heh... "Tanks that contain oxygen" probably would have been better.

I just saw the article elsewhere and was getting to post here, but see that I am at least 3rd in line. Anyhow, the first thing I thought when I read the article was "Wow...that Ron Howard really gets around" or something to that effect.
