Rather then using a yoke style valve, get an old Sherwood 6300 DIN valve, the slant style, it is offset too, which may make the Reg line up a tad better. Just a thought.

But cool idea. Wasn't ease of breathing why Cousteau chest mounted his DH regs?
Cousteau was a life-long smoker. He had lung problems toward the end, and needed positive pressure from the regulator. Hence, the chest mounted Mistral. In one of his last films, he said that the doctors had told him his diving days were over, and he was seen only on land talking about what the divers were doing.
