There were a few fellas diving wet two weeks ago at Gilboa--my computer showed 38 ave temp. The air was much colder...the water on our drysuits/gear froze. Those guys had to be miserable...they only did one dive. Brrrr...they're much bolder than I.

Much bolder, but not smarter! LOL! :D

The water is going to be cold but if he keeps the dives under 25 minutes you guys will be fine. A gallon of warm water dumped into your wetsuit right before you step in the water does wonders for helping you stay warm on the dive. That tent does a good job of keeping you from freezing during the surface interval, that's something a lot of instructors around here are really concerned about. Most of my students this quarter turned down a trip to the Florida springs to do Ohio check-outs in April--did I mention I teach crazy people to dive ;) I do have one who wants to wait for the water to warm up but the rest are game for 45 degree water in a wetsuit. It will be fun, you guys should join us!

when are you going and/or can we join you for Florida too?!?

We'll be at Alexander Springs March 22, Devils Den March 23 and Ginnie March 24. If y'all want to come down you're welcome, I think my friend's house is full though so you're on your own for lodging. I'll be busy with the students the first two days since those are the check-outs but the more the merrier!

If you're game for Ohio that's April 1-2 :)

LOL I used to do that, I'm diving dry now--it's the students who are crazy. The Florida trip was $75 plus they pay for their own entry fees and air fills for 3 days. Some of my friends have offered to house and feed them to keep the cost down, only 3 are coming down with me, 8 said they would rather certify in Ohio in April and 1 said he wants to certify in Ohio later in the summer. I work really hard to keep them comfortable and the students always seem to have a good time. I mean, warm water is nice but I prefer the cold.
Ber :lilbunny:
I can't believed they passed that up when are you headed down to flordia. Your students are crazy. I saw my instructor last night I think middle of April is the earliest I'll be able to get my check out dives over with. I have the oppurtunity to dive almost every weekend this summer with the OSU scuba club, so as long as I have my check out dives done by then I'll be happy.

We'll be diving March 22-24 so probably leaving March 20.

That's my spring break week at school so it would be perfect for me, I have an aunt who lives in Flordia but unfortunatly she lives an hour 2-3 hours from any of those sites. Oh well!!

No the check outs are 22 & 23, fun dive is 24th :)
