I had the same mask leak problem for a long time while in the tropics until I figured out it was the sunscreen. Even with the gel waterproof sport varieties where the active chemical actually binds somewhere beneath the epidermis (skin) it still often leaked.

I tried about five different types and my mask would leak. Best thing to do is no sunscreen on the face prior to diving and either wear a hat or stay in the shade. The mask doesn't leak any more.

Thanks for the tip y'all (long time no see, Puffer!). I recently took a trip to Bonaire & Curacao, and noticed intermittent mask leaks on some dives, but didn't key to the facial sunscreen application as the key difference in the equation. Makes loads of sense in hindsight!

I wear a cap. But then, I was raised on a farm, ourdoor live, where everyone wears a cap or hat outdoors, day or night. Anyway, wear a cap with a bill, and just put the sunscreen on your nose, tops of ears, and back of neck. :369:

I've never experienced this problem. I'm using Australian Gold Dry Oil spray. No leaks in the last couple years. I dive with the SeaVision Tech 2000 mask. The skirt is very thin and flexible.
