hugedodge2000:
Stage Type 1st & 2nd Balanced
Num. of High Pressure Ports 2

As you already found out, it is not balanced, but it also doesn't have 2hp ports, only 1.

Balanced 2nd stages in Scubapro range are the models starting with S and X, not the R series.

Nope. Not balanced: http://www.scubapro.com/prod/erog/tous/tous.htm

After all the suggestions here why the Tusa? Is there a feature it has you like or the look, etc.?

The best regulator for the money right now IMHO is the Zeagle Envoy. It's a workhorse.

Agreed with all the ones you listed the Scubapro my seam simlar in design to you (mybe less features), but it's the best constructed, servicable and gone through it's trial stage again and again and again,........................................................ None of the other ones you liste have. That's just MHO.

I like the look of it and it has an inline balanced piston. It looks like the best reg. for the money.

I'm not a big fan of the Scubapro regs. They breate well, but they cost too much for overhauls, Mares has a similar problem and I don't have any LDS near me that services them. I'm a big Aqualung/Apeks fan. If you can't find Aqualung, what about Sherwood? They make stuff that will last through incredible abuse and keep on coming back for more. I've used sherwood unbalanced piston regs that are older than I am and for the diving I was doing (down to about 80 feet) at the time, I can't say it was all that bad.

Depends on the diving you're going to do. 2HP ports really don't mean anything to most people. I've never used more than one at a time myself.

My thoughts on regulators is that very little on the market today is going to be "bad" as long as you stay with some kind of established name brand. Cressi-Sub has a new line of regulators out that I hear good things about and they are very reasonably priced.

The reason th MK2 is so widely used is it's simplicity...2 dynamic O-rings and only 2 moving parts, the piston and the spring... the thing is as close to a indestructable reg as you will find and it is very easy to service.... It is a great starting reg if you can't afford something more.... IMO I would savemy $ and wait to buy an Atomic reg
