Infidel! It's obvious that the hose hasn't even been O2 cleaned!

I'm using it for mixes below 40% O2 only. ;)

I've been reading that some people think that necklaces are worthless, and prefer their's 'bungee'd. How would one do that and why is it an improvement?

Thanks!

WOW! Sorry, I didn't realize you were actually asking that question :D, this place is so full of smart a$$es I thought you were making some kind of off the wall tech diver style splitfin/spare air/oil/tire thread crack about a "yet another dumb necklace question" thread! :shocked2: Ooops

Anyway my questions were answered, glad yours was too...:)

BTW...the wing in your previous avatar looks just like mine.

OK then...turns out you were prophetic afterall...

Note to self, add "Necklace" to the S/A, Split Fin, Oil, Tire Thread list.

The video just shows a double fisherman's bend that can be tightened around the mouthpiece. Doesn't this just pull off too easily?

I cut the zip tie holding my mouthpiece and put the ends of the bungee under a new zip tie. I don't wrap a bungee around the mouthpiece. It ain't coming off unless you also rip off the mouthpiece. Who else does it this way? Or does everyone use the double fisherman's knot?

I use the double fisherman's knot. I've tugged and tugged and I can't get it to slip off. Other divers I respect use the zip tie method.

IMO, both methods are secure.

I use the double fisherman's knot, and I have never had the necklace come loose when I didn't want it to. It will, however, come off if I do something stupid, like take my gear off in the water and try to get back in the boat with the necklace still on . . .

My instructor was chatting with us before class at out local dive site one day and started going through our gear. He got to mine and grabbed my necklace, as he is saying this needs to be put under the zip tie, pulled as hard as he could and it didn't come off. So he pulled again harder. Finally it came off. Since I wanted to pass the class and it was a requirement to follow his rules I put it under the zip tie.

Previously I liked the idea that under a hard tug it would come loose. As TSandM suggested I do something stupid like leave my necklace on or since I dive with a lot of newbie divers, if one of them ran out of air and tried to grab it, they could probably get it then. Or so my thinking went.
