Is the position advisory the main new feature? Am I missing anything?

The nexGen looks the same on the outside but inside is different. Different manufacturer, different components, new processor, new GPS, 100 hours of transmit time, more range, more accuracy.

Is the trade-in available internationally with your local dealers?

We don't currently have any agreements with international dealers for trade-ins. For now, you would need to contact us (info@nautiluslifeline.com) and mail the unit, but it could be something we look into for the future.

I believe you have to input your MMSI into the boats AIS receiver before the dive?(or just note it down for the captain to identify?) Not sure how this works with a large group diving - all of them with the gen.3 lifeline? It would be a pain to input MMSI for a very large group.

Thanks. Who does the position report go to?
You can program the MMSI number of your boat in the LifeLine through a Mobile application (available on IOS and Android). Procedure is explained on page 7 of the Nautilus LifeLine Manual (Enclosed). It's an easy manipulation that takes just a few minutes.

Has Nautilus considered making an actual PLB that is diveable?

Also, why did they stop making the original VHF version that allowed actual voice communication in addition to location data?

Yes. For sure. We did a deep dive examining the benefits of bringing a PLB for divers to market. Ultimately we couldn’t see the benefits and advantages of a PLB with satellite cover vs. a LifeLine that uses DSC and AIS technology. We framed the discussion in terms of our own operation with 27 boats and functionality for both guests and search and rescue especially in remote areas. It’s a very interesting discussion and always welcome thoughts on this…

the vhf issue has been covered a bunch of times...it wasn't really up to them, it was bureaucratic bs mainly.
Correct! Unfortunately, we had no choice but to shut down production on the original Nautilus Radio. US authorities have banned single transceiver handheld radios and the EU changed the CE technical requirements for this class of radio. The problem with the MMSI numbers was also a major hurdle.
