let me see if I can get some Korean friends to help me post some messages including this photo to the larger dive shops in Korea, PADI Korea, and the other agencies about this unnacceptable behaviour.

Show them this.

Republic Act No. 7586 (National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 1992) Sec 20.3 (Prohibited Acts)
"Mutilating, defacing or destroying objects of natural beauty, or objects of interest to cultural communities ( of scenic value )"

Sec 21 (Penalties)
"Not less than Five thousand pesos ( P5,000 ) not more than Five hundred thousand pesos ( P500,000 ), exclusive of the value of the thing damaged or imprisonment for not less than one (1) year but not more than six (6) years, or both, as determined by the court"

Just to add credibility to the picture. Another friend who was diving in the area noticed the same coral. Just for some background it was my personal friend that took the picture in his own personal camera. He is a journalist with one of the country's biggest news agency.

Spoon:
yes i also comnsidered this scenario wherein a non-korean diver would do this intentionally to discredit korea. its very possible but in my opinion highly unlikely in anilao. Believe me kim if you see what we see every weekend you'd understand.
I think I do understand, and it must be VERY frustrating. In a way that's what might make something like what you suggest more likely. If someone already had bad feelings about how they consider certain people behave then it would be one way to provide a sort of 'proof'. The problem is though that it isn't - not really. To actually accuse someone you need to catch them in the act and this is probably quite hard to do. While I agree that it's fairly likely who is responsible, can anyone put their hand on their heart and say - "I'm SURE"? I'm from a culture which puts the burden of proof on the accuser - not the accused. Do I think this scenario really happened? No. Can I be sure what really happened? Also no.

Spoon:
we can also see that exact coral in anilao. bring your new hid light:)

OT: just put in an order for a 21W salvo this morning... hopefully will get it before I head out next Fri.

Axua:
..then I guess let us just keep this picture here and hope that it can speak a thousand words.
I don't agree. I think the picture needs to be distributed as far as possible. What needs to be kept here are any personal opinions/conclusions. Let the picture speak for itself.

you think he can write a story? this is of utmost importance to our marine parks.

I would suggest your journalist friend to maybe write a little editorial on this in a local filipino newspaper and I'm sure the Korean consulate would got word of it in no time.

our best bet so far. i do agree with pao & kim, unless someone is caught in the act we can only guess who really did it. unless a DM shows up and admits to guiding the culprit.

like i mentioned you have a point. would be easy to point the finger without having any actual proof but that wouldnt be right in my opinion. lets just take the picture for what it is. Its a defaming of one of our marine treasures and i dont care if it was in gaelic or sanskrit, the point of the matter is something should be done about it:)

il see what i can do and will have updates for you soon.
