Ok so we have a name, a Mr/Ms Hong. It will not be so hard to trace where Mr/Ms Hong stayed last Jan. 28, 2006 and who was his/her DM on that day.

For the record, um, my last name isn't Hong and I wasn't in the Philippines on Jan 18...

Not sure how much it will help but it would be a step in the right direction. My action plan is to find as many email contacts for dive associations/ agencies/ shops based in Korea and write a formal letter about this "incident" including that damning photo and encourage them to step up their efforts to educate Korean divers on environment protection/ appreciation and just general common sense!... So far, doing a quick google search, it looks like PADI, TDI/SDI, and BSAC have some presence in Korea. I will try to get my local friends to help me dig up any major Korean language diving BBS's as well. I think bringing this out in a public forum in Korea should do some good in embarrassing Koreans on this unacceptable behavior. I welcome other suggestions.

I'm a bit swamped at work til my trip to the PI next weekend, but will try to bang something out and run it by you guys.

While the evidence certainly appears to point in one direction it's not proof. I realize that the chances are small but it could be also someone trying to discredit Korea or something like that. That is actually the problem. Unless someone actually SEES someone behaving in this fashion there can always be an element of doubt. What I believe to be true I sometimes must keep to myself as my own opinion - and sometimes my conclusions can prove to be incorrect. Just something to bear in mind.

yes i also comnsidered this scenario wherein a non-korean diver would do this intentionally to discredit korea. its very possible but in my opinion highly unlikely in anilao. Believe me kim if you see what we see every weekend you'd understand.

..then I guess let us just keep this picture here and hope that it can speak a thousand words.

Kim, understood... no smoking gun here... but come on... that's a bit a stretch on the conspiracy theory... So some other national, with some personal grudge about Koreans - maybe some korean guy stole his date or something, decides to write IN HANGUL to give Korean divers a bad name??? Or maybe a spy from North Korea?

That would be like me running around carving out in Kanji on the bottoms of mantas to get rid of Japanese divers?

Maybe it was photoshopped? I would personally like to see this exact coral next week when I'm in Anilao.
