For those interested in the moded W200, I found the aspheric lens gives a very narrow beam with very little spill light compared to other lights. After corresponding with Packhorse, I sanded down the spacer a bit between the LED and the lens to widen the beam and got a much more "normal" beam and it's still very bright. I recommend asking for a wider beam with the aspheric lens.

Got the light not too long after Greg posted this picture of it. DX is SLOW when it comes to shipping so I had to wait to try the light until the batteries arrived. Once they did I found out I got a bad cell so still couldn't try the light. Ordered another set of cells from DX and put in a request for a new cell to replace the DOA one. They first offered me $4 off my next order, too late - already ordered the new set and 3 of these cells does nothing for me. They agreed to send me a new cell which I'm still waiting on.

When I first tried the light compared to my Dorcy I was dissapointed. Emailed Greg and he reminded me that it's got three power modes. AH! There we go, now we're talking. The Dorcy has a nice tight very white beam but does not compare to a 10W HID underwater. The 100% power W200 outshines the Dorcy and provides a VERY large "field of light" for lack of a better term. Just what I was looking for to light up those big empty sections of wrecks and this will be killer for night dives.

FYI - Hatul - I'm very very happy with the Dorcy light for as cheap as it is. There are a couple threads about it on here if you search! Make no mistake though, it's not a W200! If I get a chance tonight or in the next couple days I'll try and get some shots of them to compare.

Added bonus - it fits just fine in my oxycheq light sock. So my Dorcy will be now a backup with this as my primary.

Greg was great to deal with, very straight up guy and offered to help me walk through or return to figure out what was wrong when I was sent the bad cell and didn't know if it was the light or the cell.

OK, I got a chance to take some pictures tonight after using the W200 while walking the dogs. All shots were taken 15' or 4.5 meters.

First, the Dorcy alone.

Then the W200 high power alone

Now the W200 high power (right) and dorcy (left)

W200 medium power - 50% (right) and dorcy (left)

Finally W200 low power - 10% (right) and dorcy (left)

The W200 is substantially brighter and bigger than the Dorcy but I'll still take the dorcy along on day dive for looking into nooks and crannies because of that tight beam. The W200 is exactly what I was looking for and I can't wait to see how it compares to a 10W HID canister on the next wreck dive.

Packhorse - can't PM while mobile - please ship the the 21009 zip code...
Thanks!!!!!

I put an order for the Dorcy from Amazon, to use as a backup light. I'm hoping it will work fine with NiMH batteries. I use the Packhorse light as primary.

Adam, I use the dorcy w/ 6 AAA NiMH recharegables and have no problems. Got to use the W200 for the first time today under water and it performed quite well. Very bright at 110', lit up a nice large area unlike the Dorcy which is a perfect backup and ideal for peeking into nooks and crannys during the day or at night. But the W200 is awesome and exactly what I was hoping it would be - THANK GREG!!

My dive buddy may be placing an order for one as well - she's that impressed with it.

I also got the Dorcy, as I'm becoming a dive light addict, and yes it works great with NiMH batteries. I used a zip tie to run through the holes to affix a lanyard. The lanyard that comes with the light is a bit of a joke for diving.

I have the mod W200 R2 with the aspheric lens, which I modified a little to broaden the beam. The Dorcy uses a mirror. I find the lens causes very little spill light, so I actually like the mirror of the Dorcy. Of course the W200 packs a brighter beam but it's also a bigger light. Both lights are great.
