WOW 7 pages on this topic.. Missouri Dept of Consveration pulled a fast on on me today.. they said that they were dropping off the bags today .. well its a holiday!@!!!!... duh.. SKDVR did you have any luck up north?
ohh well I will just pull a guilt trip on them and try to atleast me me half way.. we WILL have the bags though.. Glad to see everyone still active with this. These last couple of sunny warm days ive been wanting to just go diving. I will resist until this Sat. I will be there before 10 and at the gate waiting. I made a phone call and the gate keeper is expecting us all. We are to meet at the gate in a group then proceed in... I was thinking - Let me know if you agree---.. lets launch this operation from the snack / shack launch. This way no one that is not certified in an overhead envrionment is not tempted to explore. Plus there is alot more room to set up. I plan on dropping gear and reparking to make more room. SKYDVR - we can put the trailer right there for the cans... I am easy to find. I will be in a little blue diesel ford escort... yep show car!!
I know that stingray has to split early but I will be around til the end. I am packing a lunch and cooler.. the nearest town is about 5 min from the mines. (fredericktown) That is about it.
Cyall there.

I never got an email back on the bags, and I did not try to call today because of the holiday so I will call them tomorrow. I looked high and low and my house and could not find my cloth bags (it is bugging me) Obviously you will know who I am with the trailer behind my suburban, and I will have Jawisa and b1gcountry with me. I too plan on bringing my lunch with me. Much easier than running into town. Maybe I will try to be a tad early too if I can get the other two guys at my house just about 15 min early. Could you PM me your Cell # so that I can give you a call if we get help up somehwere. The last time I made a trip with a trailer I had a blow out. NOT FUN!!! That should not happen this time.

Phil

Holy ****, you guys might actually have a decent clean-up crew this time. I'm still not sure I can make it and unfortunately I won't know until Thursday or Friday.

Just thought I'd mention that underneath the arches are 1000s of cans. These cans are empty and well above shoreline. This being the case, I plan to simply bring a roll of black plastic yard waste bags and patrol these shorelines, filling the bags and setting them near the water to be transported out of the quarry. I figure the yard bags filled with empty cans will float for at least as long as it takes to drag them to an exit.

Great work on organizing this effort (Sting&ResQ) and thanks to everyone who is committed to participating. If there is any chance I can sneak away from work I will be there.

P.S. I've sent out emails to a few hatcheries. I would LOVE to plant a couple hundred paddlefish (aka spoonbill) like they did at Mermet 12 yrs ago-assuming the owner is amenable... Any ideas on this?

Phil,

I can be there early as I am close by. What time should I get there so I can assist with getting everything ready? Let me know.

Where can I find directions? That would probably be helpful.

And by the way, does anyone have an octo I can borrow? I ebay'd one but I don't think it will get here in time, and even if it does I won't be able to get it inspected in time.

Also, I bought a dive computer from someone on the board. Is it OK to dive with a used computer and without backup gauges?

If you use my BC I have an Octo that you can use. It is an in-line integrated octo like this. It should work with just about any BC, it just depends on how long the corigated hose is. As far as the computer goes it would have to be an air integrated one otherwise you will not know your air pressure without a standard SPG. Being the first time that I was diving it I would want an SPG. I may or may not have one that you can borrow. I am waiting on a pressure gauge for my pony (that is supposed to be in this week). If I get it I will have an extra SPG. If it does not come in I will need the SPG for the pony. Let me know what kind of computer you are getting, because if you have a wireless AI your first stage will need two HP ports so that you can have a backup. Lots of variables but we will get something figured out.

If you use Google Earth why dont you PM me your email address and I will send you the file for Mine LaMotte and you can get directions from that. I cannot attach the file here they do not support the .kmz file.

It is air integrated, but I don't know if I trust it.

You forgot beer, toilet paper, and a kitchen sink.

I was thinking on my way into work this morning that my Octo may not be the best option unless your primary reg is on a 40" or longer hose. Because with my octo you have to donate your primary, and if it is on the normal short hose that could be tough. It will work if we need it to.

We should be able to fit everything in the truck, and if not I will have the trailer too that we can put stuff in if we need it. Since there will be 3 of us in the truck I can fold down 2 of the backseats and I think we can get everything in there. I can bring a package or two of deer brats. I have a ton... I will have a cooler so just bring what ever you want to thow in there. James is going to be at my house at 8:30am so if we get packed up quickly enough we can get out of there a little early.

As I am typing this the person from the conservation Dept called and said that they had none of the bags up here in the st louis area, but she was going to contact the stream team person in Jeff city. So I am probably not going to be able to get any. Maybe the stream team person will know of someone around this area that will have some.

Directions are at this old post. I wrote them so I know they are correct.
