My spit works quite well, too. Funny, nobody ever takes me up on my offers to share.

That's odd, I've had to spit in my instructors mask on a few occasions--I don't even have to offer she'll ask if she needs some. I use baby shampoo now but before I learned that trick there were times when I had no spit and would ask someone to spit in my mask for me (no big green loogeys please!). I have better luck with the baby shampoo when I rub it on the dry lenses then add a bit of water and rub again and leave the water in the mask until I'm ready to don it. I get out after my dive and repeat the mask defog process and leave the water in there until it's time to dive again.

After the cleaning with toothpaste or softscrub test your cleaning.

Run tapwater into the mask to chill it. Bring a lense to your mouth and exhale a deep steamy breath. If the mask is clean it won't fog. Other wise you will see where work is needed.

After that I use 50/50 J&J baby shampoo and water.

Be sure to keep sunscreen and other stuff away from the lenses.

After reading your other post about the mask problem, it may be that your just getting too much water in the mask and it's negating the defogger. I would suggest trying the toothpaste again and clearing up the leakage problem, then we can worry about fog.

With Walter on that one.
If you use it 100% strength, you can even put it on wet lenses.

I use 500psi and love it. One application...rinse and clean..dive all day!

Walter:
Try it straight, you'll get better results.

I'll keep that in mind but it's doing well in 37F water.

Thanks,
Pete
