There have been many threads on what is the best mask defog, and I am not interested in starting another one of those threads. I have been using Johnson's Baby Shampoo full strength since 1965 and it remains my go to defog. While checking my gear for an upcoming dive trip, I found my small bottle of baby shampoo, that lives in my mask case, was nearly empty with the last of our current large bottle. As I was getting ready to head to the store to get a new supply, my wife showed me a bottle of Johnson's Baby Shampoo and Body Wash that she just bought to try it as a shampoo and body wash. Since it takes forever for us to use up a new bottle of straight baby shampoo for diving and snorkeling, I'm tempted to give it a try on my mask, but I am wondering if anyone has tried the combination product as a mask defog? My gut tells me it will probably work fine, but prefer not to find out I was wrong on the first dive of our upcoming trip. Obviously I can buy a new bottle of straight baby shampoo, but I am willing to use the new product if it works as well. Thank you for any comments if you have used the baby shampoo/body wash.

Wow!! Are you a nuclear engineer or some other kind of socially retarded?
@Wookie. Neither. Was in a bad mood when I posted my reply to the above post. I have removed it, and apologies to all. One of the things I like about you is calling out bad behavior whenever you see it. Thank you.

I would never have expected that from you. Which is why I commented. I also apologize for my retort.

No apology from you was needed or expected. As always, your opinion is spot on, and your retort was perfectly justified.

Been using spit since I started diving and lost my first bottle of drops.
My face mask case has as special spot to hold the bottle. =)

I get your point though.

I mean... they claim "all natural ingredients" for the brand I use... but technically uranium is all natural too. =)

Yes, the mouth can be a dirty place but I still would rather my spit over something coming out of a factory. From the manufacturer:
Water*, Cocamidopropyl Betaine*, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate*, Lauryl Glucoside*, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Glycerin*, Citric Acid*, Sodium Benzoate, PEG-150 Distearate, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate*, Fragrance, Polyquaternium-10, Disodium EDTA
Wait 'til you hear the chemical names of some of the "natural" things in your spit! ;) (One of the common components is peptidoglycan N-acetylmuramoylhydrolase.)

Just because a chemical name is unfamilar or hard to pronounce does not mean it's in any way hazardous to you. About half those names up above are fancy words for "soap" - just specific kinds of soaps. Most of the other half are common preservatives most folks ingest by the sh*tload every day.

As a cancer survivor... I get it. =) My default setting is that everything is trying to kill me (including my own body).

FWIW, a friend of mine got chemical burns in her eyes from using a name brand defog product. While she is fine now, it definitely pushed me to first try Johnson's baby shampoo and now get back to good old spit as defog.

You can get baby shampoo at nearly every dollar store and pharmacy, FWIW. No need for Johnson's. I use the cheap stuff. Works fine. (My spit used to, but doesn't any more, for reasons unknown.)

My Chevy truck is all natural. 100% made from ingredients found in nature.
