Ber Rabbit:
That's odd, I've had to spit in my instructors mask on a few occasions--I don't even have to offer she'll ask if she needs some. I use baby shampoo now but before I learned that trick there were times when I had no spit and would ask someone to spit in my mask for me (no big green loogeys please!).

Lucky!!!

After that I use 50/50 J&J baby shampoo and water.
I often use a dab of silicone grease to help seal around my moustache. That eventually works it way somehow to the lens.

50/50 mixture of J&J baby shampoo and rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol both cleans and defogs. As others have noted about other defogs, it works best when applied the night before and allowed to dry. I don't rinse after applying.

A drop or two of J&J straight from the bottle works pretty good too, although I do need to rinse a bit after it drys.

J&J shampoo also does a pretty good job cleaning wetsuit and other neoprene.

Have tried sea gold, 500 psi, trident and a few others. I keep a small 500psi in my bc pocket for students. For me it's good ol spit. Regarless of temp, time in water, or water quality. Spit has never let me down. It's even better if I've had pizza the night before and have a little excess acid on the burps. That cleans AND defogs! Not too much tho and not if the burps are chunky.

Just for kicks and giggles, I looked around in my LDS to see if they sold 500psi, and they do ... at $9.95 for the 2 ounce bottle.

With tax, that comes to $10.65 - or $5.32 per ounce. I think I'll still stay with the J&J.

Well, if you don't like using spit, Johnson's Baby Shampoo works quite nicely!!!
And it can be used for a lot more things than can spit.

Johnsons is great. I put a little bit in a spray bottle filled with regular water, and spray my mask with it before getting in the water. No need to rinse, as it is gentle, no-tears formula! It works better than all of the expensive stuff I ever bought and smells better too. Try it, and I bet you never buy another tube, tub, or bottle of anything else.

Come to mention it, when I went diving in Hawaii the DM on the boat had a spray bottle of J&J 50/50 mixed with water. It was the best stuff. I sell the 500psi on our website.... perhaps I should put some baby shampoo there for sale? J/K But I do like how handy the 500psi bottle is to keep in the BC pocket. Maybe I'll just pour out all the 500psi stuff and put some J&J in there.
