I just learned that a Michele Hays died there on May 12, but cannot find any news. All I have is the obituary, which tells very little: Michele Hays | Lubbock Avalanche-Journal

This is a pic of Michele on a 2004 Belize dive trip....

I have tried searching and reading thru various Caymans news links, but nothing comes up.

I referenced this in an earlier post, my gfriend and I were there diving a few hours before this happened. It was a shore dive site called Turtle Reef at a place called the Cracked Conch:

(Grand Cayman Islands Shore Diving)

For some reason we thought we read somewhere it was a 64 year old man that passed away that day? We have not been able to get information either but we're very curious.

I think that may be a different case.

Diver dead in West Bay

A vacationer on a shore dive in West Bay died Monday afternoon.
The 45–year–old woman, who was from Texas, was spotted in the water just off Coconut Bay. A 911 caller reported seeing two divers who had surfaced near the shore; one was waving and the other was not moving.
The unresponsive diver was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead. A cause of death had not immediately been determined.
A post mortem will be conducted, but police said no foul play was suspected in the woman’s death.
The incident in West Bay Monday was believed to be the fourth watersports–related fatality in Grand Cayman so far this year.
On 3 March, a 69–year–old English swimmer’s inert body was found by a snorkeller along Seven Mile Beach. There were also two diving deaths here in January, one off 12 Mile Bank and another that occurred near the West Bay dock.

Thanks Todd. So she was in the water. Damn. It's been too long since I spoke with her but she was heavily involved with a non-diving BF then, didn't have a regular buddy then. All sad, but that's the news I was seeking.

Edit: Spoke with our mutual LDS. Seems she was diving with a Florida DM friend and had a seizure at 40 ft.
