The statement that these laws are unevenly enforced is the depressing part. I suspect that as long these shows remain profitable I expect authorities will be payed to look the other way. One excuse I expect is that they have been in captivity so long it wouldn't be safe to release them back into the wild.There is a special place in hell for those that capture and keep dolphins, (and other animals), for the amusement of morons.
The escapees are surviving just fineI know they are a highly intelligent species, but I wonder their ability to acclimate to the wild, having been held in captivity and relying on humans for food. Not suggesting they stay in captivity. Just pondering.
