You might be interested to know that when I was talking to Jon Hare, the guy at NOAA I posted about above, he was telling me that they have gotten a lot of sightings along the whole south coast of Long Island this year. They think it may be related to a warm core ring that pumped a lot of Gulf Stream water onto the shelf in that area.

Well... it really was "THE finger", so even if we had pictures I am not sure the mods would have approved of posting it..... :D
