This guy could of been getting attacked by this dog and was trying to save his own life...

Yes, well, those Shar-Pei's are known to be brutal. Why, they've been known to take an arm off! Don't even get me started on man-eating rabbits...deadly little devils.

Obviously you don’t know what an animal rights person is. I am not an animal rights person per se, however, I do have compassion for animals, as well as people. Unfortunately, it appears that even though you own a cat you have none. This man was stupid enough to use a loaded gun to beat a dog. Not only did he beat the dog with a loaded gun, he had the gun pointed toward HIMSELF! The gun went off, the man is dead. End of story. There is no one to blame because he did the deed. The dog did not shoot him. He shot himself. Do you honestly think this man was in his right mind to begin with? If you do, then you need serious psychiatric help. The fact that you are arguing against him deserving to die is ridiculous. There are very few people I believe “deserve” to die. However, it is very hard to have compassion for a man who takes his uncontrollable anger out on ANYTHING that cannot defend itself equally.

However, if I thought a dog was rabid... I dont care if it is a poodle, if it came near me....Id perform my own animal control procedures.

Other than that..you got me on that one...

whatever the circumstances, to say this guy got what he deserved is wrong. If every moron in this world was put to death...about 80% of the population would be gone and our Congress would be empty. :)

I have more compassion for animals than people usually...I have met many more people that were pieces of crap than I have animals. Animals, for the most part, are innocent and don't have the petty, sinister motives behind their actions like people do.

If the guy hadn't have shot himself and I had been there I would have soundly thrashed him - no questions asked.

The bottom line is no one, not even animals, deserves to be abused! (Off my soap box)

But now that you brought up the whole Congress thing, you have me thinking!:egrin: Not to mention So Cal would be ALOT less crowded!!!

Yes, Jason is a troll. He frequently stirs things just to be stirring them. When I read his post in this thread, my thought was, "Jason should be careful he could damage his trolling reputation. This is a compassionate and thoughtful point of view." I'm shocked to see so many people taking Jason to task for his position on compassion for human beings. Human life must be held in very high regard and we should all be sorry when it is lost. This man got what he deserved only in the sense that all actions have consequences. The consequences of his actions was his own death. We cannot protect people from their own stupidity, but rejoicing at their deaths is wrong. This person probably deserved punishment for beating the dog (assuming we do actually have all the facts which is not likely), but that punishment would not have been nor should it have been death.

Well, in this case, the guy was a moron waving a loaded gun around by the wrong end. Sorry, but in my book somebody who does something that dumb deserves the results of their actions. If something beyond his contol had killed him, or he'd made a mistake, I'd say he might not deserve it. But come on man, dog or no dog, that's just plain stupid.

Now, following along with your line of logic, I propose that we arm congress. And assign each of them rabid lap dogs.

...and am not reveling in his death or dancing on his tombstone. I think he should have gotten his head bashed in with a rifle the same as the dog.

I have a great deal of compassion for animals, but I dont put animals lives in front of human lives.

You forget that in some cultures it is common practice to eat dogs and cats. This is not looked at as being cruel, but rather a tasty meal. If you dont think this exists, give me permission to send you a video clip and you will see.

In our culture this is obviously unacceptable, but thats OUR culture, and it is also your opinion that since this guy was not in his right mind than he got what he deserved.

So now, you are saying that all people with some kind of mental disability deserve to perish.

"The fact that you are arguing against him deserving to die is ridiculous." ..thats funny, I think its ridiculous that you have no compassion for another human being, even if he was mentally incapacitated at the time.

I agree with you on the prioritization of lives. However, when the animal is innocent and the human is a piece of $hit...well, I will grab the dog and carry it out of the burning building first.

The planet is already overpopulated...we can stand to lose a few people that have no redeeming qualities.

Maybe I should look into a culture that eats people...oh wait, that's "wrong" isn't it?
