Scuba diver found dead off Long Sault Parkway

A scuba diver who was reported missing in the St. Lawrence River along the Long Sault Parkway west of Cornwall, Ont., Wednesday evening has been found dead.

Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Friday that emergency crews responded to a report of a missing diver near Lock 21 just before 8 p.m. Wednesday.

"Four divers entered the water but only three resurfaced," OPP said.

Police found the diver, a 61-year-old man, just before noon on Thursday. He was pronounced dead at the scene and police did not release his name.

It happened about 13 kilometres west of downtown Cornwall and 80 kilometres southeast of downtown Ottawa.

This comes less than a week after a 47-year-old diving instructor was found dead after a dive in Kingston.
