what is the dive+ software you mentioned? thanks for sharing.

ed

It’s an app for iOS. It probably is also available on Android. It has a set of tools called D+ Labs that includes photo & video color correction tools. They do a fantastic job! Far better than filters. I used filters once and was very disappointed with the results.

I use a combination of the GoPro app, Dive+, and for stills I may clean them up further in LR. I do everything on my iPhone SE. The only thing I do on my laptop is use it to upload all of my raw video to my DropBox account for long-term storage in case I ever need it again.

A friend who takes great GoPro video and stills passed these tips onto me. I am very willing to pay it forward and pass them along to others!

Thanks for the tips
I use Dive+ but I also use a red filter.

Judging by the quality of your video, i will be removing the red filter on my next dive!!

Thanks again!!

I think that will help. If you use a filter PLUS color correction in Dive+ I would think the results would not be good. I'm sure the Dive+ color correction algorithm is assuming a clear, unfiltered image. The same friend I mentioned above told me that when you use a filter it is then impossible to get that red/magenta/purple removed from your video and images if you don't like the results. You either use the filters and get what you get or use a clean, unfiltered image and then use software for color correction. Not both.

Hello, Jim, My question is this, how do you hold your GoPro? Just in your hand? Excellent videos. Taking my GoPro 7 Black for the first time and just wondering how you do it. Thanks for any help, Kevin

Thank you!

I have it attached to the GoPro floating hand grip shown below in the GoPro underwater housing.

I see lots of these hand grips on boats this days. It provides a simple, affordable, small, slightly positively buoyant handle for the GoPro underwater housing. It has worked well for me so far.
