I own a JJ as well and I have dived/own units with drysuit stye dump valves and much prefer the basic pull style. I actually find the adjustable OPV to be more "task" loading because to start you have to crank the thing closed, crank it open when I want to dump gas then crank it closed again. And repeat this over and over.
Can you not tap to dump like on a drysuit? That is the way the Prism version dumps. I'm a mouth/nose venter so I don't ever really use my opv except in a bailout situation.

That is interesting and very useful info to me. I haven't had the opportunity to talk to anyone using the adjustable opv. I was wondering excactly how useful they are during "real" diving. Would you say the leaking is due to a malfunctioning opv or just the nature of the design, that it is hard to set the correct release pressure?
It is normally from a bailout tank bumping against it.
I tend to dive at absolute minimal loop volume so it never comes into play as an opv.
The pull dump also functions as an OPV but something pushing against it won't dump it.
