So I got a dirt cheap tank off FB and would like to see if anyone knows any details about it (pictures of the neck attached). Had it hydro, tumbled, and VIP'ed and it passed so now it's time to dive.

What I do know:
1) It's slightly too small to fit in a standard 8" boot and wobbles a bit in it's current boot.
2) Almost as tall as a standard AL80
3) Had an unknown coating in it and it has a flat steel bottom inside. Coating got tumbled out without any problem because it wasn't in good shape and there was surface rust inside.
4) Takes a standard 3/4 inch tank valve
5) Born on date is 2-96 and had a + stamp
6) There might be a manufacturers mark next to the serial number on the second line, like an elongated D.

The scuba shop is looking for the report from the hydro place to see how much water the inside displaced. They said it's about the right size to be a LP100 or so.

Could you take some better pictures with what you think might be an elongated D. The area before and after the serial number would be great to see in more detail with better lighting.

The only time I ever got a cylinder that had a marking ESDS was from a tanker carrying LNG. I was told it was part of the Emergency Shutdown System - ESDS. Although I have to admit that is all I know about this and it might well be something different in your case entirely.
