Hydro for doubles question

I usually break down my doubles myself and bring them in without a valve if I’m taking them straight to the hydro shop.

I either fixed it or made it worse.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I did break them down myself, and brought them to a local hydro facility - $15 each, for my 1970 steel 52.8's. It's a bit tricky to reassemble these since the vintage US Divers manifold can twist. I am thinking of making a fixture to hold them square as I reassemble. them.
