Ok, I've got a Scuba Pro 550 and have been thinking about getting another for either a backup or a pony.

Yet I see some of you with 4, 5 or more. Simple question: Why so many?

Thanks

Some people get in to Tech diving and need multiple regs for stage bottles, twin sets etc.

I have 3 full regulator set ups, 2 Poseidon Cyclone first and second stages complete with Oct and a Scubapro Mk 25 first stage with R395 second stage and a R295 Octo. No idea how I ended up with so many regulators I just kinda acquired them. Oh and a Scubapro Mk 2 first stage with a R295 second stage with an Apex button gauge, this I use on my Pony bottle which I side sling.

(2) set up for doubles
(1) set up for a single
(1) single set up for pool (nasty chlorine) use
(2) for deco bottles
(1) for a stage bottle
(1) for airgon (suit inflation)
(1) cheap old reg for inflating tires
(1) double hose

...OMG. When you put it all down it sure looks like a lot!

All the best, James

I have 5 SP MK25/S600's

2 for my doubles set- up
1 for my recreational set- up
1 for my father's recreational equipment (gave them to him, but I still make sure they are properly maintained)
1 for my decompression cylinder

I own about 40 regs from double hose to tech to ful face masks and want more. I am not a collector because I dive them all.

The vast majority of divers do fine with one set-up. As you get into different levels of diving you may find need for more. Also some of us are gear junkies and like to accumulate them along the way. The reasons you are toying with typical.

Personally:
1 - Single hose
1- Double hose
1 - Back-up
1 - Pony
1 - Utility (Filling tires, cleaning out computers, blowing water lines clear, filling ait patresses etc.)

Remember that like exposure protection most divers accumulate this stuff as the needs develop so it's a gradual expense and you can watch for deals. The multiple regulators will also make you seriously consider your maintenance regime.

Any one who dives cold water (sub 10°/50°F) should have two regs minimum. :blessing:

Don't dive where icing is a real possibility with one 1st stage only!

So... I have two regs. It isn't enough.

need:

1 Reg for the surface suport O2 (Mk2/Rxxx ??)
1 Reg for Pony/Stage (Something with rotating LP-Ports, DST? Mk10?)
(I wanna pony!!! ( due to not being able to reach own valves) I don't dive solo, but I want self sufficiency)

So... 4 Regs is the minimum for safety in cold water...

Quote from one avid diver "After I bought my 16th regulator, I figured attending the manufacturers' servicing course would pay for itself within one year, so now I do my own servicing"

I got the same reg set (Aqualung Micron) for both main and pony bottle, that way you can swap them round to make sure they both work when you need them, use one instead of the other, use one as spares for the other etc.

1 set I bought for myself
1 set I bought for my wife (whom, 12 years later still has not learned to dive)
1 set I bought for nostalgia (because I couldn't afford it when it was new)
2 sets I got a great deal on and couldn’t pass up

Yes, I’ve got too many regs for a non-tech diver but my real weakness is tanks right now

:)

I have two regs...My main setup is a Zeagle DSV and I also have an OMS workhorse with a button gauge for my pony bottle. In the next two years I will probably add another for my dive buddy to be(son).
