Hello to everybody ,
I have to decide in the next 24 hours what reg to buy.
Options are :
A) SCUBA PRO MK II with 2nd Stage R190 and octopus R190 - 185 Euro - INT
B) Aqualung Calypso with 2nd Stage Calypso 2 and octopus Calypso -229 Euro - DIN
C) Seemann SUB 1st Stage SL24 2nd Stage SL 200 octopus SL 200 -269 Euro - DIN

Please help me to make the right choice.
Thank you for your support !

Of those three, I would pick the ScubaPro rig.......

The lowest price and I would suspect the easiest to get parts for of the three.......

The AquaLung would be a close second and if DIN tanks are standard for your local rentals, that might sway me ........

Hope this helps.......M

Love scubapro stuff, but the R190 is their worst breathing reg.. would go with the Aqualung .

Don't know the Seemann gear though.

I pretty much agree, if you could upgrade the 190 to a 380, it would be a little better. The MK2 is not a fancy reg or the best breathing but it's been around for many years and is super tough. In any case I would avoid the Seemann, not that it is bad gear but if none of us have heard about it, it will likely be hard to get serviced and service may not be available long if the company does not stay in business. The SP and AL will be easy to get service and parts for many years.

I too would pick the Calypso over the R190 and the Seemann

I don't know why. Both the Calypso and the MK2 are flow by piston 1st stages, downstream 2nds. If anything, the Calypso is based on the SP design. I also don't see any advantage to the R380 over the R190.

Pairing the MK2 with a G250V is an interesting idea, but it would increase the price of the reg so much that it probably would be worth it just to get the MK11 or MK17 1st stage.

The MK2/R190 is a great basic reg, when it's tuned correctly it breathes surprisingly well and it's a breeze to service.

Couldn't agree more........OP was from Romania.........I think easy to service would a real plus.........

The reg I have seen most in the the more-off-the-beaten path places is the SP MK2/R190.......

Proven bullet proof design and keeps on working despite tons of abuse.........in my unofficial survey it seems to be the global rental reg of choice..........

The Scubapro would be the best option for you in terms of local service and reliability. Where are you buying it from? You can buy it locally in Romania as MK2+/R295/R295 for 263 EUR or 282 EUR as MK2+/R295/R295/SPG, or the Aqualung Calypso for 182 EUR from www.xsport.ro (no business connection with me, except that this is the place I bought most of my equipment).

Thank you every one for your support , after long toughs and financial considerations
I bought my self a complete set of gear from a German Shop (Authorized Dealer )
and the price was even better than leisurepro.
For 850 euro ( around 1050$) - including a 19% sale tax I got myself :
Regs - Oceanic Cdx5 DVT with Alpha3 2nd and Alpha 8 octopus
BCD - Scubapro T- One
Mares puck wrist computer
Seemann sub 6,5mm full diving suit ( including hood )
Mares X vision - mask
Mares fins plana avanta X 3
Seemann Sub boots
Seemann Sub Schnorchel
Seemann Sub Pressure gauge
Oceanic gear bag ( Mash bag )

I think I made the right decision

PS Special Thanks to Vixtor for his help !!!!

Because I saw in the previous replys that user of this forum are not familiar with Seemann Sub brand ,SS is a German company ( big ) bought few years ago by Johnson Outdoors also the owner of SCUBAPRO and UWATEC.
Due price and marketing policy Johnson Outdoors restricted sale area of SS products only to Europe, northern Africa and some French colonies in south America and Polynesia
