I'm about to head out for the Conference for the Advancement of Science Teaching (CAST), which is being held this year in Corpus Christi, Texas. It's not diving, but I'm excited because this conference is one in which I get to make contact with folks from the FGBNMS, the Gulf of Mexico Foundation, and a lot of other marine science educators and researchers. In addition, this year I'm getting to present to a comparatively large group of educators , and the topics I choose to speak on are...what else?...on marine science issues and incorporate diving and the images and video I collect through diving. (My sessions also tend to attract educators who are divers as well.)
It's not diving, but it sure does give me the chance to use what I've learned THROUGH diving in a (hopefully) productive way. It's a great way to promote what we, as divers, do and the critical issues facing our oceans.
Do you have venues through which you promote diving related activities?
