 I just had a major flashback to my childhood with that swimcap link!! I wonder if the sharks would run for deep water, or attack if they saw a diver with one on!!

I have to agree with Jep on this one. Dee Rags seem like a cool product but we've all watched Dee run around and bark at people trying to sell their own items. Sorry Dee, but what gives?

Depth Gauge - as you know Scubaboard does not allow people selling anything in the public forum - however the dee-rags were brought up and discussed as they are an easy solution to a pain in the backside of a problem!

At no point as Dee even attempted to "sell" her product in this forum - no prices have been quoted and no links to her website where she sells them. Infact, she has only posted once in this entire thread. The rest of the comments have been made by happy customers who are simply sharing there views on a helpful product!

Suggesting your product in a related thread where it is relevant to the topic but where you do not directly advertise with prices and links etc, are acceptable.

Hope this clears that up for you.

Actually it doesn't Scubababy, but I'm glad they work well for you.

As someone mentioned, I've been in Roatan for the last week and was just made aware of the direction of this thread. So in response to the accusers.....

I can agree about the doo-rags, or in my case Dee-Rags! I've got several women with long hair using them. Simply gather your hair at the back of your haed and the Dee-Rag ties just under the 'bundle' of hair. This keeps it contained, tangle-free, and protected. You still have to wash out the salt, though!

The link to Dee-Rags is in my signature at the bottom. If I can answer any questions, feel free to ask.

Dee, what a shameless plug.

I don't think so. The subject was brought up about a product I'm familiar with. As you well know, members are allowed to have a link to their website in their signature. I simply explained how the rags work, mine or anyone elses, with the offer to answer any other questions anyone may have. If you are so concerned that I have broken a rule, report me to the other Mods or directly to KN and LD. We'll see what they say.

What gives is that I have done my job as moderator. As you also well know, direct selling of items on the board is not allowed. Those are the people I 'bark' at, as you so nicely put it. However it is acceptable for anyone to repond to questions about a product they sell or have connections with. Scubababy gave you an excellent explanation of the rule(s). I'll say to you the same as I did Jepuskar...if you think I've broken a rule, report me. Under every single message is a link that says "Report this post to a Moderator". All those reports are also read by KN asnd LD. I'll gladly follow their ruling....which is exactly what I've done anyway. But I'm sure either one of them will be glad to explain it to both of you again.

I'm sorry you can't understand Scubababys explanation, I don't know how much simpler she could have worded it. Just for your information, I have never sold or given any Dee-Rag product to Scubababy or anyone she is connected with and to the best of my knowledge she does not own or have access to Dee-Rags.

My hair is about the same length as your and floats all around my face - hadn't thought about using Dee's "Rags" ..... no problems popping off when you take your mask off?? May have to look into this as an option!!
Kat....the rags are designed to fit low on your head which helps keep it in place. The headband ties securely to also keep bubbles of air from getting caught underneath. As you can see in this photo, Beast doesn't much care if the band is under or over his mask...but your mask seals better if it's under!
abf.sized.jpg
. The picture of Kim, Walter and Sandy show an average placement on the forehead for everyone, although some do wear them even lower. Simply holding the rag in place with a finger will work when putting your mask on and off.
divemistress once bubbled...
Does one wear one's mask over the Dee-Rag (breaking the mask seal) or does one wear the Dee-Rag high on the forehead, and mask on the face. (Dee's website suggests the former, but does not say so outright.)

Also, is a Dee-Rag long enough to hold rather thick hair at mid-back length?

Dee, are you listening??? :)

DM
Yes...I'm listening! :out: Wearing the Dee-Rag too high on your forehead makes it easier to slip off, either when doffing or donniong your mask or by allowing bubbles underneath.

Yes... it's long enough to hold your hair. First, put you hair up in a loose bun or pony tail. Position the rag on your head, folding the tail down over your bun/tail. Tie the band ties on top of the tail but underneath the bun/tail. This should hold and protect your hair until you take it down. Sandy describes it very well, too.

...If only she still sold the chili pepper print!
Who said that? There's still a few chili peppers hanging around! ;)

Read the above quote of what Dee posted. Tell me, where is she "selling" her product? Did Jep & Depth Guage read the thread? The post before Dee's was by Hallmac who talked of a Doo-rag that solved the hair problem. IMO, all Dee did was provide a visual solution along the same lines.

Depth Gauge once bubbled...
I have to agree with Jep on this one. Dee Rags seem like a cool product but we've all watched Dee run around and bark at people trying to sell their own items. Sorry Dee, but what gives?

Again I ask did you read the thread? I am the one that brought up buying one of her products. Walter was the one who loaned it to me. I have never spoken to Dee, nor have I even tried to contact her (yet) about buying one. If you read posts after mine, then you will see that it was my post that got people talking about the D-rag.

I also do not see where Scuba-Baby refers to using/owning this product. Therefore, I do not understand the comment to her about "Actually it doesn't Scubababy, but I'm glad they work well for you." She was just doing her job by attempting to explain the rules to the two of you. Was there an issue (retorical statement) that Jep & DG were jaded by that kept them from using their reading comprehension skills?

I am sorry if I am coming across as a B---- but the more I am on this board, the more I am getting annoyed with the hissy fits people throw around. I understand there are rules to be followed here. But isn't the premise of the ScubaBoard to share information, ideas and experience? This whole thread was - FOR WOMEN ONLY - about hair challenges. We all shared our experience - experiences most men do not have (notice I say most) - so how can you justify even putting in your two scents (which by the way may have been acceptable to me had they been some type of input on hair management)? If you had a problem with Dee's post why didn't you PM her or report her? If you had a gripe that was validated by a regulator, then I can understand the posting comments for all to see. But you didn't.

Dee, are you saying you have a chili pepper D-Rag still hanging around? Hmmm just so I won't upset anyone, I will PM you about purchasing one! :D

Actually Kjunheart, my reading comprehension skills are just fine. And, if you read my comments, I definately wasn't throwing a hissy fit. But if you read yours, it would appear that you were.

Dee,

Personally I don't care if people sell products on this board. I hope you sell a million of them. :) I was pointing out that you were encouraging the sale of one of your own items AND I've seen you discourage others from doing so. It just appeared as a double standard.

we girls WERE playing happily in our sandbox -- "discuss(ing) the issues that concern women divers" -- when a couple of boys started kicking up sand.

men should be welcome in the women's forum, imo. among their many positive attributes :), they can be very helpful. as they were early in this thread when several offered good suggestions, including a doo-rag.

did dee have a conflict of interest when she mentioned dee-rags? dee-batable. did dee know her audience? you bet: diver kat, i and a few others peppered her with questions about using dee-rags. this product clearly interests some women divers.

so, boys, don't fuss at dee. better yet, don't fuss at all. at least not here and not now. go back to your sandbox. tomorrow, if you're in a better mood, you can come visit again. but please observe the local customs.

best,

dm
who is about to pm dee about buying a dee-rag :D

Way to call it DM!! Maybe there needs to be a "For Men Only" section so we can go bug them when they want to discuss guy stuff!!

And I guess I may get jumped for this one - but Dee, any plans to "Show & Sell" at PK?? And do I need to add the disclaimer that I do not have any of Dee's products, I do not know Dee personally (yet!), and I have no vested interest in the sale of Dee's products ...... I just like Dee's on-line attitude, as a very experienced diver, she can provide lots of useful info (on haircare or other things) to all of us .......

Now, can we all get off the soapbox, send the guys back to their side of the Board, and get back to serious women's issues....... like ....how do you untangle your hair from the giant knot once back on the boat???? After a serious day of diving who cleans the gear, and who cooks dinner???? Does your BC, mask & fins need to be color coordinated??? :loopy: (wink, wink!)

I know we're never going to come to an agreement over this but I'll say this just one more time. I wasn't encouraging the sale of my own items, I was answering questions about how they work. Whether people use doo-rags bought from me, Wal-Mart or the local convenience store, the basic principal is the same. Alot of women still have the idea that doo-rags are only useful to bald men and bikers...I was just trying to help them understand that's not true.

Show me anywhere in my responses to these ladies where I pushed them to buy my Dee-Rags. The stink you two have made over my post has probably done more advertising than I ever could have so I should probably thank you! Making these doo-rags is a hobby of mine, not a money making venture that I depend on, so there's no advertising needed or wanted.

Thanks for the support, Girls! Just let me know how I can help ya.
