Cool. Tina will be able to tell us if it was found before we look then. If Chris is willing we can spend a few minutes doing a muck dive. If we find it you get your fin back and if not we may find something else.

Joe

Yeah, I also left a few gold bars down there too.... :)

Good on you on all accounts. I don't care for the cold all that much so I do a lot of my dives there on the shallow side. It can get crowded over there during the mornings on weekends because of the classes though. I did an entire dive a couple of weeks ago and never left the road. It was getting dark and I was wanting to just relax so I went down the road a ways where the bluegill are nesting. I was only in about 10' of water but I just settled in and watched the fish interact with each other for about an hour. I had collected some zebra muscles on an earlier dive and spent some time breaking them open and feeding the fish by hand. It was very calming after a day of chasing students.

Did you make it out there today? If so, how was it?

Joe

The old roaddbed and the drop-offs that border it is my favorite dive in the whole place. You can usually find decent vis, even on crowded days, and there's lots of structure and fish. People just don't seem to dive the area much except for right at the entry point. We should probably keep our mouths shut so this area doesn't start getting trashed too. LOL

Crud. You're right.
Umm.. When I said, "road", I meant 'rock crusher'
Yeah. That's it.

Did you tell Tina? ;)

Joe

Must have slipped my mind. I'll look for them next time I'm there. I had a blast, despite the long drive and the fin "episode".

Sandy and I were there yesterday and Saturday afternoon. the viz on the shallow side yesterday was incredible...10 feet in some spots....unheard of on the weekend. We made it out to the fish cribs and it was a little better out there.

Mike, you are right about the drop offs right off the road...30-40 feet.....very cool, when you can see them.

I wish there was a way to identify SB'ers while there...I really dont feel like walking around with a SB hat on...no offense Netdoc...lol

On Saturday Sandy and I were getting ready right in front of the first dock and there were a group of guys right there and I thought one of them looked familar but didnt want to be a dork about it.

The rock crusher is a nice dive in the afternoon when the muck shops have quit for the day and before the night diving classes start.

I thought there was a secret handshake? Or, we could just let people know when we're going to be there and who/what to look for....but that would be too easy. ;)

I've got a stupid questions...What is a L.A.R.K.?

TimTooleman:
You didn't mention the extend of your experience, but it looks like you have less than 15 dives under your belt.

Given that, you may or may not want to go to the south side (deep side). That is the only side I've dove on. There is a cabin cruiser and a L.A.R.K. in close proximity in about 50' of water. I prefer this side because vis is usually 20-30' but it is cold (7mm needed).

However, you can stay on the other side of the quarry where it is shallower, and maybe can even stick with the 3mm suit. The surface temp is very nice, but below about 30' or so it gets chilly.

I suggest you buy their slate int he office. It has a map of the quarry with compass headings written in. I believe it's $4, so a great buy.

Also, I would take only 1 tank since they do fills there. They even have a pick up/drop off service for an extra $1.

Have fun!
