Karen Cleveland:
Are you kidding?

if you take dir as dir is the only way then gue is not dir just becouse they chang some things to work better for the wkp. the DIR -F class is going to become GUE-F class from what i have been hearing

The DIR-F class offered by GUE has already become the GUE-F class.

In my opinion, the WKPP must be doing something right because they have to have it nailed to be able to complete the dives they are able to accomplish. This weekend they just executed a 23 hour dive...the set-up guys, had something like a 15 hour dive. So yes, I think the whole point is to have a unified team, with standard gear, procedures and training to accomplish these unbelievable dives...I'd call that DIR.

But that is just me.

it is DIR but not the old school DIR that is still out there and im saying AG is all so DIR

Curious....not much on your 'bio'...and that is fine (I wish more folks would fill them out, always helpful to get a feel for the diver),,,,what kind of technical diving you do?

Whether it's DIR or not DIR does not matter as much as whether i'll have better education and instruction. And of course which is safer and has a better track record. As in my previous post, my observation of TDI has been that it's not very safe. (my TDI friends attest to that) I hope this doesn't turn into a DIR thread! :)

Actually Skywalk, it is the Instructor and his Training Philosophy/Regimen which will determine after passing his course, whether you will develop into a safe, competent and proficient member of a Technical Dive Team. . .

Gotcha Kevrumbo. But the dilemma i'm facing is I thoroughly respect my PADI CD whom i've done all my training with. He's a wealth of knowledge and experience, that's for sure. This instructor teaches DSAT.

Gideon on the other hand, I've had no dealings with, but from what everyone has told me, no exceptions, he's also widely respected..and he's GUE. So I posted this question cus I respect both instructors, think that i'll learn a lot from both, and the only deciding factor is DSAT or GUE? Thanks for reading.

Good luck with your choice. I think that you should hold off judgement until after your Fundies course. You already have some experience with the other instructor, and I think that once you get some instruction under the other you might find your choice easier to make. Also, many people get training under more than one tech agency.

Im doing my tech 1 this dec from Gideon. I have had friends that i dive with take class from him and im going to take a wreck class from AG I have had a deco class from him.
I like the TDI and DSAT couse materials.
