JeffG:
The personalities of both student and teacher need to mesh to be completely effective. So certain GUE instructors might not be a good match for a potential student.

I remember some people just hating AG (thinking that he was an arrogant SOB) and I got along fine with him.

I hear ya. It was GypsyDoc's specific mention of instruction ability (instead of some other more typical responses of attitude, being rushed, demeaning, etc.) that prompted me to ask. I guess I was interested in hearing more because it was something that I haven't heard much before. All I can say is that I am glad my experience was not the same.

Evidently it's not well known as to why AG was kicked out...

JeffG brought up AG's name in post #14 refering to AG as a GUE type instructor (yes, I know that Jeff knows that AG is no longer with GUE).

In hundreds of posts I've read where divers who take courses from AG or Joe Talavera believe that they the are getting DIR or GUE instruction. Nope.

After sitting in/helping out with Gideon's GUE Tech 1 Class here in Los Angeles a year ago, and taking a Wreck and Ratio Deco Class with Andrew Georgitsis --both their teaching, lecturing and demonstration styles are very similar (although Andrew has the funnier accent:D ). Excellent instructors in conveying/relating/explaining the material presented!

(BTW, Andrew G's current relation with GUE really has nothing to do with this thread now . . .don't you think?:shakehead )

AG has no relation with GUE, and anyone who has taken instruction from him doesn't either.

Rick Inman:
I have heard of all different kinds of instructors - great to horrible - from the various tech agencies.

Except GUE. Never heard of a bad one yet.
OK, since I posted this, I have been told of some bad ones - in the tellers opinion.

Just to be current and accurate...
