You can lie at the low levels, but I doubt you can lie your way through a C2 course, where you're around your teammates for 5 days. Yes, I would rat it out, too. If I were in a course where a direct ascent to the surface was not possible, and found out my teammate smoked, I would ask that the teammate be replaced or I receive a full refund. My life isn't something I want to leave in the hands of someone who might be thinking about their next fix, sorry.I think Richard has it right ... at least be honest enough to know what's enforceable.
I've known several smokers who lied about it and took Fundies. I knew one dude who used to work and teach at our local GUE shop who smoked openly ... you'd see him lighting up right in front of the shop. He was a really nice guy, and a helluva diver, but he did smoke ... and he also had done GUE classes at least thru Tech 1.
Having the rule is one thing ... enforcing it is something else altogether ...
