Hi, as a UK diver who used to puke before leaving the harbour, I can't recommend Sturgeron highly enough. It's what the British Navy dish out, and it really does work - with no side effects (on me at least). On a very rough trip back from the Brothers Islands (Red Sea), I was just about the only person who hadn't spent the entire night hugging the toilet bowl! Downside, I think it's only available here in the UK.....

I believe that you mean Stugeron (cinnarizine).

It is available outside of the UK, but not yet in the US.

Best regards.

...er, yes I did mean Stugeron. My fingers sometimes move faster than my brain!

This Stugeron sounds good- My family lives in the UK, I could get them to mail me some- Is it prescription only- or available in Boots?

It's available over the counter at Boots. It's pretty cheap too - about £3.00 for a pack of 12. You need to take two about two hours before you sail, then one every six to eight hours if you are on a liveaboard, or diving the next day. I've not had any seasickness at all since using it. Good luck.

Thanks Nettlebum, I will call my Mum today!!!

Hey- Enjoy your trip- I have to wait another two weeks before getting wet :(

say hi to the water for me.

munkispank. I'll say hi to the water for you. And the seals! Farne Islands are famous for being home to a colony of 8000 seals. They come up and tug on your fins. It's fab. Let us know if the Stugeron works, if you manage to get some in time for your next dive. xxx

munkispank:
sorry to hear you got sick- boy do I know what that feels like.

I got sick on the patch too- with such a long boat ride I am not surprised.

The miracle Japanese drug is called SEMPER AD but I have only found it in Japan. I do not read Japanese, but got a friend to read the ingredients for me- aparently it was a complex mix of chemical drugs and natural herbs. Whatever it was, it was the best ever- the absolute only thing that works for me 100%. Unfortunately unless you know someone headed to Tokyo, then we are stuck with Dramamine :(

OK, Semper QT works really well for me now!!
